New American Kestrel Nest Box installed at the Preserve

On October 9, 2023 two new Kestrel Nest Boxes, built and donated by Sam Campbell, were installed at the preserve by Sam, Mark Mosey, Kathy Stahl and Lee Boland. The poles were installed by Tyler Knutson and Justin Gabriel.

The boxes will be monitored using the American Kestrel Nest Box Host Progam protocol coordinated by Beaver Creek Reserve Citizen Science Center and Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

On 22 April 2024 (Earth Day!) a male kestrel was observed sitting on top of the mounting pole on one of the next boxes!
